We are a small general Chartered Accountancy practice in Nuneaton town centre, located within walking distance of the main shopping centre, the railway and bus stations. The practice is expanding, and we are looking for a candidate who already has experience of working for an accountancy practice to join our team of five.
The successful candidate will report to the Director, and manage a portfolio of sole trader, partnership and Limited company clients. This is an opportunity to develop your existing skills in an established local firm.
You may be qualified or part-qualified (AAT, ACCA, ICAEW), or qualified by relevant experience. Proven experience in an accountancy practice environment is essential.
Manage a portfolio of clients, including VAT returns, accounts preparation to Trial Balance and payroll services.
Work on your own initiative to prioritise your work, to meet HMRC and Companies House deadlines.
Maintain clients’ book-keeping records electronically in a range of formats, including spreadsheets, desktop software packages and cloud-based accounting packages.
Help clients as they transition from manual to electronic record-keeping, assist them in complying with current HMRC requirements, and advise them on accountancy software technical matters.
Deal effectively with ad hoc client queries and problems, including liaison with HM Revenue & Customs.
Skills and experience:
Substantial, proven experience in an accountancy practice role.
Strong IT skills, including spreadsheets and accountancy packages, e.g. VT+, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS, Bright Pay and Xero.
Excellent communication skills.
